MOMB is the best place, you have forgotten - an homage to our first home, to fulfillment, to the ultimate borderland of life. It‘s soft and red. You hear the heartbeat and calming voice of your mom in the distance and grab a snack of the placenta altar.
There are not many things that all people have in common, but every single one of us began life in our mother‘s warm womb - the most liminal space of them all, the ultimate Borderland. Out of nothingness, out of love or drunkenness, thanks to chemistry and biology we all start our existence in our mom’s belly. Nourished and protected by her body, we grow to become ourselves and to be born. Some say we never again fall back into a state, as endlessly happy, as fulfilled as then.
Momb is a homage to the womb as our first home, to a reduced and subtle, yet wholesome sensual experience, to a state of fulfillment, and to good memories long forgotten. It‘s a round warm tent, dark and filled with red cushions, fabric and soft light. You hear the heartbeat and body sounds of your mother and her calming voice in the distance.
Lean back and grab a snack of the placenta altar and drink some nourishing fluid. You have arrived in good place, respect it.
Enter and exit through a vulva-like narrow opening and remember this is a space made to be left behind.
In addition to creating the Momb as a space to simply visit for your pleasure there will 2-3 events hosted in it.
You are invited to Momories- a storytelling session of the warmest and best memories you have of your mom, to a session of sharing stories of birth, re-birth and other transitional experiences and to naked family cuddles (for families with kids only:) Followed by naked family photos for all families! ( A Festherum tradition which I am happy to continue at Borderland)
My name is Milena and I am a daughter, a mother, a doula, and I will be 7months pregnant at this years Borderland.
I work in storytelling and communications and I have a passion for textile art.
The momb will have a little trash bag hanging from its center pole. It will be there to dispose of the wrappers of the snacks which will be natural, such as banana peels and wax paper/ cellophane for the small hanging sweets. I will also try to attach the sweets in a way where you can eat the snack, but let the wrapper hanging. I will refill them a few times. I will also empty the trashbag every morning
|Addition to our van gas money for bringing that heavy tent from Berlin||300|
|Fabric (ca 15m)||600|
Come and hang out! Especially join for the storytelling sessions... You can donate your memories or goodies to the placenta altar.
Hey friend! Welcome to the virtual drawing board of The Borderland. This is the place where we prototype the projects we'll realise during the week in the quarry.
