Stretching firmly 7m towards the sky with it's skewed mechanical clockwork showing everything but accurate time. Cutting the last ties of an outside world, and as a landmark for lost space travellers, the Clock Tower is here to help you lose track of time
The Clock Tower of No Time is a tower covered in strange graphics, ornaments and fine detailing. It stretches seven meters towards the sky in a shape that perhaps most resembles a twisted version of Big Ben. The clock itself will host an enormous pendulum, a pendulum that motors the mechanics of the clockwork itself. The face of the clock will have hands that will move but nothing like a normal clock. Detailing will done through two ways, by spending silly amount of time cutting details in OSB boards and on top of that all external surfaces will be covered with custom made wallpaper where the graphics will work hand in hand with the wooden shapes. From a distance the tower will be a majestic landmark, come closer and the all the detailed graphics will unfold the closer you get.
The tower will have a footprint of 2,5 x 2,5 meters and it will stand 7 meters tall, due to the height there will be four steel wires added for extra stability, one wire from each corner. Night time the tower will be lit up from the inside to make sure it can guide people even after dark. Speakers will be mounted on the inside on the very top of the tower, speakers that will toll some twisted sounds a few times per day.
Spectacular light rigs and sound system to be borrowed from tech-owning angel friends. Metal parts and wood mechanics for clockwork to be cut, welded and laser cut for free in advance. Less money = less elaborate facade and hopefully not height.
Carpenters, amateur engineers, artists, a mix of new and old-bees. Experienced building both small, large installations and event design.
95% of the tower will consist of OSB boards and regular 45x70 mm wooden beams. Most can be re-used (or even better, put on fire to form a gigantic burning fallos).
|Description||Min amount (DKK)||Max amount (DKK)|
|Steel wire incl bolts||800|
|Screws and bolts||500|
Any theme camp in the surrounding area can use it to let the city know things that are in the making. Or simply use it as a meeting spot. Just don’t trust if for keeping any sort of real world time. There is an option to make the bottom part of the tower into a small room for lost time ceremonies. All depending on safety discussions.
Time travel guides are welcome to join us, making this into a temple for worshiping of the present moment as well as a place for disregard of the passing of time.
Hey friend! Welcome to the virtual drawing board of The Borderland. This is the place where we prototype the projects we'll realise during the week in the quarry.
