  • Summary

We want to create a centerpiece for the [re]connect village. A space for gatherings, large public workshops, for resting in the shade during the day and for soft dancy stuff during nighttime. A safe haven for Borderlings in need of [re]connection.

    Full description of yer concept

We imagine the [re]connection temple as a safe haven for any Borderling, but especially for those who might feel lost and don't know where to go. The temple is meant to be a place where it is ok to feel whatever you feel and maybe even find someone to share your experience with.

This year the [re]connect camp is growing into a village and we will be 130+ people living there. With the [re]connection temple we want to create a calm centerpiece in the village for both [re]connectors and Borderlings in general.

The temple is intended as a quiet place for workshops, gatherings, resting and free play during daytime and soft dancing during nighttime (or for silent disco morning dances). The temple will have space for 50-100 people depending on the activity hosted there.

For the temple we wish to buy a starshade tent as this seems to be the most elegant way of creating an open (while still enclosed) space for a lot of people. We will cover the floor in puzzle mats (we already have most of what we need) and decorate it with beautiful flowy fabrics and homemade LED lamps. We have a lot of meditation pillows that can be appropriated for the project and are on the lookout for carpets to make an even nicer floor.

    About the budget
As it is looking now, close to the end of granting, we will have to finance the tent ourselves (which feels ok) but hope to get the deco and side panels covered through this art grant.

We realize that this is a pretty expensive dream because we want to buy a tent, but renting tents of this size is fucking expensive and we find that buying this will enable us to make great things at future burns as well. It others words we see it as a good investment for the Copenhagen community.

    About the crew / artist

We are around 15 people from the [re]connect village doing the project. We will be responsible for setting up, decorating and keeping the temple nice during the Borderland.

Moop plan (matter out of place)

We don't expect this project to be very moopy. The MOOP effort around this is mostly connected to keeping the space nice.

    What is this?

Hey friend! Welcome to the virtual drawing board of The Borderland. This is the place where we prototype the projects we'll realise during the week in the quarry.

    • Do you need electricity from the grid? How much in Watts? Yeah. We will light this thing up with LEDs, but probably wont need more than max 500w.

    • Will there be light? Sure! we will make the whole thing (and its surroundings) glow beautifully with color changing LEDs built into lamps.

    • Will anything BURN? Nopes. Nothing will burn.

    • What is your audio footprint? We will bring a soundbox, so there might be some noise, but nothing very lound.
