The Glade Crew

  • Summary

Hidden away in the forest you'll find a sound camp that explores the mystical and introspective side of dance music. Electronic music vs real folk musicians, playing traditional instruments. Folklore is the theme of The Glade, both sonically and visually.

    Full description of yer concept

» An obscured and mystical space where dark electronic sounds meet the acoustic, folkloric traditions of the North. «

Suddenly, you hear a dark pulsing tone coming from inside the dense forest... You’re anxious. You have never been this far out in the bush before, but nevertheless you follow the strange sound, closer and closer. Until finally, you peek through the heavy vegetation and find yourself surrounded by mystical creatures with animal heads, dancing as if they were all possessed.

In the middle you witness a cervitaur – half human, half deer – summoning deep analog bass on a golden synthesizer, blasting the glade through a wall of subwoofers. The smoke, seeping up from below the ground, is obscuring your vision. But through the crowd, next to the eerie lit pine trees you catch a glimpse of the legendary Näcken himself, manically playing his shimmering nyckelharpa.

Hear for yourself what might await:

We long to explore a darker, more mystical, experimental and introspective side of dance music. Our dream is to involve real folk musicians, playing traditional instruments. “Folklore” is the theme of The Glade, both sonically and visually. Our space will be as much an art installation as a sound camp. In this hidden clearing inside the Hedeland forest – decorated by scenographers and lighted by lighting artists – musicians will play live, electronic as well as acoustic music, while folkloric creatures grace the glade with performances and dance acts.

The music and vibe will mainly be ambient and contemplative, focusing on hypnotising live jams with all kinds of traditional folk instruments rather than mindlessly banging out techno all day and all night long.

» It’s not until dusk, when the horned spirit awakens, that the depths of the eldritch bass will begin rattling your souls in the ritual of movement. «

How can other Borderlings co-create with you?

Ask any member of the crew! If you share our vision, we would love to co-create with you!
We amre primarily in need of folk/world musicians, lighting artists and scenographers. If you know any of those please tell the about this dream! Dancers, mystical performers and all sorts of weirdness is also most welcome. Although get in touch WELL in advance. This camp and all performances will be carefully planned and there will not be much room for spontaeous perfmances on site.
----The Glade sound camp will be in close collaboration with MuuMiMaa sound camp. The camps are planned to be located next to or close to each other and will collaborate musically/conceptually as well as sharing efforts with practical and technical set up.

    • Do you need electricity from the grid? How much in Watts? Yes, we need plenty of electricity! We'll coordinate that with MuuMiMaa and WCH.

    • Will there be light? Yes! With mystical lights, lamps and candles.

    • Will anything BURN? Only burning candles on safe surfares (unless there's a fire ban ofc)

    • What is your audio footprint? Yes. This is a sound camp. But we will be hidden away from the populated areas.
