  • Budget alert! Sum of budget items (0 DKK) is smaller than the max amount the Dream is asking for (27100 DKK). This is probably an honest mistake, but use caution.

Allow yourself to be hypnotised by the almighty Semiosphere. A 1.5 - 2m sphere with 320 surfaces, each lit up from within, creating a illusory effect aimed at luring Borderlings to gaze deeper into the subterranean fairytale of the pyramid.

    Full description of yer concept

We aim bigger! 1.5 - 2m in diameter and 320 faces! (The sphere in the images were built for Urban Burn, is 1m in diameter and has 80 faces.)

In a world where the digital often stands in sharp contrast to the natural, Olle and Arvid strive to bring the digital closer to what they perceive as “natural” or “living”. The Semiosphere is an attempt to communicate movement through a mathematical space filled with nebulous clouds of color, akin to a local weather phenomenon and create a sense of natural presence.

The sphere is intended to be places in the Pyramid within the project "Garden of your mind". There it will cast lights and illuminate a part of the pyramid, wlecoming people to rest around it and use it as a fire place, a place around which you can gather, rest and gaze into the fire of luminous clouds.

The sphere is about 1.5 - 2m in diameter, and is standing on a foot, approximately 50-100cm tall, Making it 2.5-3m tall in total. If however, we reach the maximum funding we will aim for welding a tree that holds the sphere

Each of its surfaces is illuminated by a programmable light, and connected to a computer which can be controlled remotely via a tablet or smartphone app, making it accessable to the general borderling.

    About the crew / artist

Olle Bjerkås is known for creating digital light installations at Borderland, Urban Burn and other realms for a number of years. Notable 2016 art piece Floreplay was for example a huge success! Read more about Olle here:

Arvid Blom is a new collaborator with fantastic skills in both programming and general construction & problem solving.

How can other Borderlings co-create with you?

We will need 3-6 additional team members to help with everything in the project, for example the following:

*Programmer - We will have room for many variations of code here. So the more that wants to contribute the better! Arvid will introduce you and collaborate on what to do.

*Assembling pipes, panels, and lights - This is quite easy but requires a bit attention to detail. 270 pipes, 320 panels, 320 light cones & 320 lamps will take about 12-20 human hours to completely assemble.

*Project coordination / communicator - Are you a skilled coordinator or just want to try the role, you are very welcome to join us and help with time management, action planning, communication within the team et.c. Booking meetings, keeping track of deadlines & such lovely things!

*Space designer / interior architect - You work in collaboration with the "Garden of your mind" to create the space around the Semiosphere, to make it amazing, comfortable, gardeny, & like a subterranean fairytale.

*Welding - If we hit the maximum funding we will need help welding the "tree".

*Fluffer - As a fluffer you make sure that the team members are enjoying life while creating :) Helping people to remember to eat, making coffee & tea, performing a relaxation ritual amidst the hectic work hours or whatever you would like to give.

*Other - Well, what would you like to do?

    What is this?

Hey friend! Welcome to the virtual drawing board of The Borderland. This is the place where we prototype the projects we'll realise during the week in the quarry.
