    Full description of yer concept

The Silent Zone is a circle in which activities related to silence and meaningful and present mind-sets exist. The inspiration is a deaf galactic world, where creatures have found other ways of communication and inspiring each other. This practice the Silenciers seek to share with the members of Borderland.

This year at Borderland there will be 3 activities in the Silent Zone (not on the same day):
    I. Silent Yoga
    II. Silent Scrub
    III. Silent Dinner.

The events are interlinked and so is the budget. We have more or less attempted to separate the expenditures, however, the decoration for The Silent Zone and the circle itself is used for all 3 events. The transport is also covering the 3 events.

    Silent Yoga
What: By sunrise we all meet at the top of the hill on a flat surface and perform Silent Yoga in The Silent Zone, where words are left out and our bodies do the talking instead.

    Silent Scrub
What: During the daytime we all meet down by the beach and enter The Silent Zone, where we are granted with first a biodegradable salt body scrub, followed by a trip to the cleansing waters and then a sugar biodegradable body scrub following by a dip in the waters. One is welcome to scrub him or herself or accept the scrubbing of a stranger as a new way of talking without words.

    Silent Dinner
What: In the afternoon we meet in The Silent Zone for an interesting experience to have a conversation over a light dinner without the use of words. A design game is created to facilitate some of the harder questions in life and will help us explore our minds and open up to a stranger. Potentially all sound is blocked out by the use of hearing protection. Lastly, the members are asked an inclusive question that calls for action throughout the rest of Borderland.

    About the crew / artist

We, Helene Kold Andersen and Ulla Rebbe Jerslund, (team: The Galactic Silenciers) wish to participate at this year’s Borderland 2018 with The Silent Zone – a zone, where words are left behind and we as humans seek to bond in other ways by other more attentive means.

How can other Borderlings co-create with you?

the three events can in total reach between 60 and 140 participants and they can reach more people as secondary viewers and experiencers of the experiments.

    What is this?

Hey friend! Welcome to the virtual drawing board of The Borderland. This is the place where we prototype the projects we'll realise during the week in the quarry.

    Dream crew

    • Do you need electricity from the grid? How much in Watts? no. we will use batteries and also the cooking facilities at our camp to prepare.

    • Will there be light? not in the night but light bulbs in the evening time for light and dull lighting.

    • Will anything BURN? no safety needs as it is all very harmless. but we do have psychological and physical first aid diplomas if needed to act.

    • What is your audio footprint? no noise. just the white noise sound of silence.
