A big-ass wind chime!

  • 41

  • Summary

A big wind chime under a see-through roof, approximately 2 x 2 meters. A bit from the noise and everything, overlooking the sea. A place you can come to breathe, meditate, watch the sky and listen to the sounds of the chime, the wind, the sea, your breath

    Full description of yer concept

This wind chime will be a little bit off from the parties and the noise, serving as a refuge for anyone needing or wanting a quiet moment, a brake from everything. Through the roof you can see the sky, you can lay down under the chimes and let the sound fill your head. You can be alone or together, it doesnt matter. In the night the light will be dim, letting you see the stars if the weather is clear.

The wind chime will be a structure approximately 2 x 2 x 2,5 meters, made of wood with a plexi, see-through roof. There will be four chimes, probably made of aluminium since it weighs the less and has good resonance. The tubes would be approximately 20 cm in diameter and up to 2 m high. The striker would be wooden and attached to a metal rod, which is attacked to the roof woth rope so it can move in all dimensions. The wing is attached to the rod on a rotating axis, so the winds can capture it from all directions. I would make the pieces in Stockholm where I have access to a workshop, then find a way to get the pieces to Boesdal where they can be assembled on the spot.

    About the crew / artist

I am an art student in Stockholm. I have never built a massive wind chime before and I mostly work with small things, but I have some experience in building stuff and interactive installations. I really love immersive art, art that is inviting and open to everyone.

How can other Borderlings co-create with you?

Yes! Help with advice on how to build the structure, help with transport of materials and help with actually building the structure are very much needed!

    What is this?

Hey friend! Welcome to the virtual drawing board of The Borderland. This is the place where we prototype the projects we'll realise during the week in the quarry.

    Dream crew

    • Will there be light? Very, very little if at all, if it's needed for people not to bump into it. If so, then with small, battry-powered lights.

    • Will anything BURN? I would really need help and advice from someone who has experience of building bigger structures like this one, so that I can build it safely without risk that it'd brake and hurt someone. Other that that, it should be cool.

    • What is your audio footprint? Yes, occasional low, hollow tunes.
