  • Summary

An alien lander from the World of Dreams have landed at the Borderlands. In the impressive UFO Borderlings are welcomed to cosy encounters in the Borderland between Dream and Reality.

ADDITION: Human gyroscope as well if funded enough.

    Full description of yer concept

A big, faceted sphere, 2.5m in diameter, consisting of 720 steel triangles, fitted with golden landing legs, dome windows, and a large solar panel "antenna", the impression is that of a lander from an alien planet. The cosy interior offers warmth and shelter from the rain to lonely borderlings.

With a total height, including legs and solar antenna, of about 6m the flying saucer will make a recognizable landmark at the borderland. By day the 720 facets of the v6 geodesic sphere catch the light, and by night patterns of light further contributes to a very spacey look.

Inside the sphere insulation and pillows make for a homely feel where people will be welcomed to a cup of coffee and a chat.

ADDITION: If a human gyroscope or (aerotrim) will provide borderlings with adrenaline filled rides for free.

    About the crew / artist

The apparent crime of Peter Madsen in the submarine Nautilus crushed many a dream. A life has been lost which will never come back. In addition a vibrant and colorful community of very bright and creative people lost their base and was shattered. RML Spacelab has been closed.

The realization that a man I trusted and admired is a cold blooded murderer has been extremely hard. It would be tempting to distance oneself from it all and slip into dull grey anonymity and normality. But No! In times like this the world needs more dreams, more visions, more fun, not less!

This project is one I spend countless of hours on, before all the dreams were shattered. I have managed to salvage this sliver of what was RML, and am now working to finish it by myself. It is my dream and motivation to be able to bring it to the Borderland, and I am going to, by my own work and own money if I need to, but it would be great to have the support of the community in this endeavor.

How can other Borderlings co-create with you?

People are welcome to pitch in in finishing this project. Having the UFO as a part of a larger dream would be cool. Extremely open to suggestions.

    What is this?

Hey friend! Welcome to the virtual drawing board of The Borderland. This is the place where we prototype the projects we'll realise during the week in the quarry.

    • Do you need electricity from the grid? How much in Watts? Solar/battery powered. Should be able to do without grid. Possibility to draw a few hundred Watts might be nice.

    • Will there be light? Hopefully yes, there will be light. Individually addressable LED's will light the saucer up in moving patterns, subject to budget (in time as well as money).

    • Will anything BURN? Rather safe. Of course the UFO could be climbed by intoxicated people who could fall. In this way it is about as unsafe as a tree. Basically since this is the Borderland I expect people to be self-reliant.

    • What is your audio footprint? No plans to make much noise.
