House of Black Light

Niklas Oppa Spacedaddy BlodMahl Blomdahl, aka Collateral

A small nexus of sound and glow sending out chill vibes to passers by and sitters down.

Full description of concept

I will bring a modified play house that I will fit with a soundsystem and rows of UV-lights. The house will be painted black and covered in mystical glyphs. The house will play ambient music from within (burners will not be able to enter the house) and will illuminate people standing nearby with the UV-light that it gives off.
The House will act as a art installation and a point of good, relaxing vibes.

Team and plan

The team is me and the time plan is: April: secure pieces of playhouse, make them come together as a lego-set. May: paint house, order blacklights, attach electricity. June: Decorate house with glyphs and demo the structure. July: go to The Borderland.

Moop plan (matter out of place)

No moop will be created by the installation. Possibly will meditators/spectators drop stuff in sheer amazement, and in that case regular cleanup/moop-sweep methods will be used as a countermeasure.

How can other borderlings cocreate with you?

They can send me mysterious glyphs they want painted on the house.

What is this?

Congratulations! You've stumbled upon something special. Borderland is a participatory festival that takes place in Boesdal, Denmark. It's a fully participatory event where everything is created by the participants themselves, with out any spectators.

  • Do you need electricity from the grid? Yes, approximately 1000W

  • Will there be light? There will be blacklight, lots of it. But only in the night.

  • Will anything burn? Nope

  • What is your audio footprint? Yes, but just a little. No thumping bass, no squeaky treble. Just a selection of drones and tracks of ambient music that will be played over small line array system of 15W.

  • Forces of nature All electronics sensitive to rain will be roofed by the house. The house is small and robust and will be staked to the ground with 4 pieces of 1m rebars, and possibly anchored with concrete slabs.
