The Oraculator

Anna Lindgren

Step into the starry universe, take a deep breath, think about the immense questions of life and our existence - and ask the Oraculator for the answers you’ve been silently pondering about.

Full description of concept

To some, the universe is hard to grasp. Basically, infinity is a concept that is hard for us to wrap our heads around and all the uncertainty about the universe can make some brains go wild with philosophic ideas, unanswered questions and conspiracies. Because the universe does leave a bit to wonder about, doesn’t it? That is why we would like to create a universe that we can touch, see and grasp, and comfortably step into knowing that we will not disappear out in eternity. And best of all - it responds to the questions we’ve been asking ourselves.

The Oraculator will be created by installing a responsive phone in an old phone booth. You will be able to step into the Oraculator, close the door behind and have a moment with the universe all to yourself. Just pick up the phone and dial a number, and the universe will respond.

Team and plan

Currently we are a few people on decorations and logistics, and one for programming.

Moop plan (matter out of place)

There will be no waste as such from the Oraculator as it will be decorated beforehand, and it doesn't generate any waste in itself either.

How can other borderlings cocreate with you?

Help with decorations! Assembling at the location! Ideas for what the answers of the universe may be? Come along!

What is this?

Congratulations! You've stumbled upon something special. Borderland is a participatory festival that takes place in Boesdal, Denmark. It's a fully participatory event where everything is created by the participants themselves, with out any spectators.

  • Do you need electricity from the grid? Yes - only for lights and potentially for plugging in the phone

  • Will there be light? Yes, by blacklights (inside) and fairylights (outside)

  • Will anything burn? Nope.

  • What is your audio footprint? None.

  • Forces of nature The Oraculator is an actual phonebooth so it is protected from winds and rain in itself
