Turing Hole™

Andre Pandre

Summary

Remember that late-night, romantic magic you found on instant messenger when you were a teenager. Oh, they were so far away, as willing as you but impossible to get. Well, look no further for the most satisfying and scintillating recreation.

Full description of concept

Interactive art™!

I am combining the infamous Turing Test with the much more infamous Glory Hole!

There will be two booths, sharing one wall, the wall will be made of wood and have sliding panels on both sides. Only when the same panel is opened on both sides, will you be able to see through. There will a panel for footsies, for faces, and at waist height.

In each half of the booth is a laptop, connected to each other with a chat client. This way, you can talk to the person in the other booth, as if you were instant messaging.

Team and plan

Myself and Aella! We'll be flying into Copenhagen 1 week before the festival to do all of the prebuild, and supply getting.

Moop plan (matter out of place)

There will be no moop created. Everything will be fixed.

How can other borderlings cocreate with you?

I tore a tendon in my wrist, so I could certainly use some help during build to speed up construction, as I'm working mostly with one hand. If anyone has an old laptop that is just lying in a closet, and wouldn't mind it be used for the project. Or an old router.

Also, we could certainly use a little van space (not much) to get our stuff from Copenhagen to site.

What is this?

Congratulations! You've stumbled upon something special. Borderland is a participatory festival that takes place in Boesdal, Denmark. It's a fully participatory event where everything is created by the participants themselves, with out any spectators.

    Details

  • Do you need electricity from the grid? Yes, <100-200 watts, depending on how efficient of laptops I can find.

  • Will there be light? Yes! LEDs! LED ribbon along the perimeter of the booth. this will draw ~50 of the watts

  • Will anything burn? Nope.

  • What is your audio footprint? Nope!

  • Forces of nature Yes! It will be water "proof"
