The Aqua Booth

Emma Gerdien & Athéna-Morgane Beinert

Enter the world of the Aquarian's: dress in fishy costumes, pose, smile & snap a picture! In this photo booth with an underwater feeling, listen to the the deep sea, create ocean-like scenarios and become one of its inhabitants.

Full description of concept

The Aqua Booth was first created at the Urban Burn Bizarre Star Bazaar, and would love to rise from it's wet ashes to the Borderland.
We are one, connected by the salty waters. Because our bodies are made of 60% water. We would like to invite you to our watery-fishy-salty-glittery-mermaidy photo booth.
Come in, soak in, and get a full experience of the deep seas from within. Try out our shapes & costumes, play around with the available props, let free the mermaid in you, embody the best triton in the ocean, swim like a sea-horse, and reconnect with the watery-splashy-fishy side that we all have sleeping in us.

Have you ever thought about how it would feel like to live in the ocean..?
The Aqua Booth is the perfect play area to try fishy costumes and create ocean-like scenarios with new and old friends. The booth is large enough for 6-9 persons to create their own scenario on the "reef".
The booth will host splashy photo sessions, serene underwater nights and occasional fishing ponds!
Snap a picture, with your mobile phone (or a polaroid if we get enough fundings for it) and there you go! Now you have a beautiful mermaid-memory to share from the Borderland 2016.

Team and plan

So far we are two Aquarians, but we would love/want to welcome more Aquarians to join, as we will not consitute a camp on its own. So you can be in any camp and join us just for the sake of fun!!!

Moop plan (matter out of place)

We should make sure that the decoration, costumes and props will be solid enough not to break up easily and end up as moop. But there still is a risk (main material used: big paper rolls, fabrics). We will bring back all the costumes etc in the end of the week. So if we burn the Booth, there will be essentially no major moop.
Aqua Booth do need a bit of tending (it is known to attract som ravey fishes) so the Aquarians will look after it several times a day for moop prevention and, of course, regular aqua party!).

How can other borderlings cocreate with you?

You can co-create by:
- share your ideas before the Borderland and be creative in any way (painting, sewing, making music, helping to arrange the photo equipment, offering your help to prepare the transport/buying of the necessary material, offering related workshops)
- During the Borderland by helping putting up the Aqua Booth, animating workshops, hanging out in the Aqua Booth, and create your own scenarios and create a visual memories!

What is this?

Congratulations! You've stumbled upon something special. Borderland is a participatory festival that takes place in Boesdal, Denmark. It's a fully participatory event where everything is created by the participants themselves, with out any spectators.

  • Do you need electricity from the grid? Yes, mostly for some light chains, some music equipment, and to possibly charge the photo equipment.

  • Will there be light? Yes! We have glowing deep sea creatures like jellyfishes and other species. Mostly runned by batteries, but some might like a electricity bulb if possible.

  • Will anything burn? Naa, we are more in to water, but we can certainly provide some wood and possibly cardboard materials at the end of the week if you fiery friends would want it.

  • What is your audio footprint? There will hardly be any noise pollution, only a few sound effects to imitate an ocean atmosphere.

  • Forces of nature If the AquaBooth is in the Barn, it will be more or less protected from the rain, wind, and potential storm. But the props and decoration might fly away a little bit in case of storm.
