At BL there will be ~25 power distribution boxes, unprotected, ugly, unappreciated. If you don't want to power to fail regularly when it rains, they need keeping dry with beautiful, co-created, rainproof shrines, which you are invited to decorate.
Electricity needs keeping dry. We will do this in a Borderlandish way, with small wooden CNC cut shrines which the Borderlanders paint and decorate during Borderland. The shrines will consist of CNC cut plywood, which keeps the electricity dry. All co-creators are encouraged to use, enhance, co-create, paint, decorate, light, modify the Electric Temples during the event. We also want to transform the electricity from boring infrastructure to something people actually think about - how important and useful it is, how we should take care of it and conserve it. If budget allows, the shrines will be illuminated from within by energy efficient LED light, providing ambiance, worship oppertunity, street lighting and easier fault finding.
Production: Nicolas' one man army. You are welcome to come and help with the CNC cutting.
Rolling out and in by the co-creators who do the electricity grid.
Temples are attached to, and will be collected together with the power distribution boxes.
Decorate the Temples during Borderland (please don't get paint etc. on the (rented) electrical equipment).
You should help roll out and roll in the whole electricity grid, including the electric temples/power distribution boxes.
You are welcome to come and help with the CNC cutting.
Congratulations! You've stumbled upon something special. Borderland is a participatory festival that takes place in Boesdal, Denmark. It's a fully participatory event where everything is created by the participants themselves, with out any spectators.
